Taking place right at the heart of the America’s Motor City, the 2017 Detroit Auto Show was always going to bring a whole host of exciting new vehicles, but the range that debuted this January managed to surpass even the highest of expectations
Infiniti QX50
It’s hard not to be immediately captivated by the blend of sleekness and muscle that defines the QX50 luxury crossover. Bringing a new 2.0L VC-T engine which combines V6 performance with the kind of efficiency you’d expect from a diesel, this might be the perfect fusion of brains and brawn.
GAC Enspirit
From the outside, there might not be much to distinguish this electric SUV coupé, but the powertrain is fantastically efficient and the interior is without equal. I mean, how many other cars come with a centrally-mounted bonsai tree. Beyond teensy topiary, the cabin’s crisp wooden accents make it something special.
Lexus LS
If Lexus is enjoying something of a renaissance, the LS might just be their current crowning glory. The unique new grille will catch your eye, but there’s so much more to love. Handling precisely and immersing you with comfort, it’s does everything you’d expect of a luxury sedan.
Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupé
AMG has ever been the creative, track-inspired arm of the Mercedes-Benz, and the GT C Coupé is its perfect ambassador. Styled to somehow look futuristic and vintage at the same time, it’s hard to think of a more appealing road car.
Audi Q8
The Q8 represents a change in the design language of Audi. Let’s face it – it’s about time. Thankfully, the Q8 knocks it out of the park, ably crafted a fun and creative vehicle that’s still spacious and luxurious.
Kia Stinger
Handsome, spacious, and with 360 horsepower of V6 lurking beneath the hood, the Kia Stinger is a new vehicle set to make its more well-established rivals worry.
ID Buzz
Imagine if the Jetsons owned a VW Camper – that’s pretty much what you’re looking at with the ID Buzz. Offering zero emissions and compatibility of the new modular electric platform structure, plus futuristic styling that still hearkens back to the charm of the older model, this is one we dearly hope sees a production version.
Rinspeed Oasis
On-the-spot rotation, self-driving, solar panels, augmented reality technology, and the ability to be summoned over Facebook? The Rinspeed Oasis is pretty much just your basic A-to-B machine. Not even sure what it’s doing on this list.
